Overview

The Wine Festival in the Hessigheim Steep Slopes will first launch in 2026 — 2025 was dedicated to planning and concept development. The municipal council supported the initiative with clear conditions (local providers only), the Steillagen Hessigheim association built the concept, and participating vintners and restaurateurs prepared their stands.

Before the Premiere

2025 was a year of preparation for Hessigheim: The municipal council discussed the plan for a new wine festival several times and set the conditions — only local vintners and restaurateurs are allowed to offer services. The Steillagen Hessigheim association, which has been caring for the terraced vineyards for years, took on the sponsorship.

In the run-up, the concept was coordinated: festival grounds directly in the steep slopes below the Felsengärten, three days of program with an admission fee (whose association contribution goes towards steep slope maintenance). The 2026 premiere is thus the first practical test of a concept deliberately counter to the usual festival logic: smaller, local, authentic.
