10th anniversary of a free open-air festival for democracy, tolerance, and diversity at the Holtorf outdoor pool
The Weserbeatz Open Air is more than just a music festival: since its first edition, the event has seen itself as a cultural-political statement for democracy, tolerance, and diversity. With its 10th anniversary in 2026, the format has become a firm fixture in Nienburg's civil society landscape, attracting several thousand visitors annually.
The festival follows the classic concept of "umsonst und draußen" (free and outdoors): no admission fee, free access for everyone, financed by grants and donations. The venue is the grounds of the Freibad am Dobben (outdoor pool at Dobben) in the Holtorf district of Nienburg — a spacious area with lawns that provides the necessary space for the stage, audience, information stands, children's area, and catering. The pool itself opens its doors during the festival for a swim between concerts.
Starting at 3 PM, six live bands from the indie, rock, pop, hip-hop, and singer-songwriter spectrum will perform on the main stage. The lineup changes every year and is considered a "secret tip" for Northern Germany by the festival ticker. In parallel, there is a dedicated children's program with the band Blindfische, a well-known children's music group in the region.
An essential component of the festival are the information stands from civil society initiatives from the Nienburg district: political education, anti-fascism, inclusion, environment, children's rights. The initiative Omas gegen Rechts is present with its own stand and program item, underscoring the festival's political aspirations.
For travel, the organizer arranges free shuttle buses starting at 2:55 PM on lines 1 and 4 of the Nienburg city buses. This makes it possible to travel from the city center without a car — an important aspect for the accessibility of the event and ecologically sensible at the same time.
The exact lineup for 2026 will be announced by the organizer in spring 2026 on weserbeatz.de. Based on past experience, it will include six bands from the indie, rock, pop, and singer-songwriter genres, many of them from the Lower Saxony/Bremen region.
The exact lineup for 2026 will be published by the organizer in spring. The structure follows the proven cornerstones of previous years:
The festival is themed "Democracy, Tolerance, Diversity" and sees itself as a statement of civil society. Sponsors and supporters will be communicated on-site.
