Traditional Mosel Wine Festival with Parade and Presentation of the Trittenheim Wine Queen
Trittenheim is located in one of the most spectacular Moselle loops, nestled between the steep Altärchen, Apotheke, and Leiterchen vineyards. These sites produce Rieslings with fine minerality and elegance that are highly regarded internationally – they define the character of the Weinkirmes. The village center, with its half-timbered houses and the baroque parish church of St. Clemens, provides the setting for the three-day festival.
In 2026, the Weinkirmes will take place from August 26th to 28th. Wednesday evening (August 26th) is traditionally reserved for a relaxed start, with initial wine tasting and an opening atmosphere. Thursday and Friday are the main festival days with live music, a parade, and the central presentation of the Trittenheim Wine Queen – a tradition that cherishes the connection between wine, customs, and regional representation.
The "Trittenheimer Altärchen" is the village's most famous vineyard site – a steep south-facing slope above the Moselle. During the Weinkirmes, Trittenheim vintners present their current vintages, including Rieslings from the Altärchen, Apotheke, and Leiterchen sites. Those who wish to explore the wine further after the festival will find a range of other events in Trittenheim throughout the year, such as the Riesling Tour in August or the summer wine festival at Claes Schmitt Erben.
The parade is the highlight steeped in tradition: clubs, brass bands, vintners, and the Trittenheim Wine Queen march through the village center, connecting the younger generation with old traditions. Afterwards, the festivities move to the festival tent and wine stands.
The 2026 Weinkirmes continues the decades-long tradition that establishes Trittenheim as one of the most distinguished wine villages on the Middle Moselle. The Trittenheim wine estates – including Claes Schmitt Erben, Eifel-Pfeiffer, Hermes-Lex, and Hermann Scholtes – are involved in the festival activities in various constellations.
