Summer wine festival in the Hockeln district of Bad Salzdetfurth
The town of Bad Salzdetfurth consists of the core town and several districts, including Hockeln. Each district has its own club landscape and its own festival calendar that shapes social life. The Weinfest Hockeln is one of these local festivals and offers a convivial summer evening for the Hockeln village community and guests from the surrounding districts.
Unlike the large city wine festivals, the Weinfest Hockeln focuses on a deliberately manageable selection of wines, served in a relaxed village atmosphere. Various growing regions are usually represented, from Pinot Blanc and Riesling to red wine specialties. The format is more like a large-scale wine tasting than a wine folk festival (Volksfest).
Wine is accompanied by suitable food: small cheese platters, tarte flambée, pasta, sausage and bread variations are offered. A band, a DJ, or a local musician provides the musical accompaniment without overpowering conversation. The festival emphasizes a quiet atmosphere where there is time to chat with neighbors and guests.
Like many rural festivals, the Weinfest Hockeln relies on the voluntary commitment of the villagers. Setup, catering, and organization are handled by a small team of helpers. The proceeds usually benefit the village or local initiatives.
Anyone visiting the Hildesheim hinterland and the spa town of Bad Salzdetfurth will find the Weinfest Hockeln an authentic opportunity to participate in a village summer evening. Arrival by car is recommended; those staying in the spa town can take a taxi back after the festival.
As in previous years, the wine festival is organized on a voluntary basis by the Hockeln village community. Wine merchants from various regions of Germany will be serving, and the catering will be managed by the team of helpers.
The event starts at 5 PM; the program focuses on a relaxed summer evening atmosphere with opportunities for conversation, wine tasting, and sitting together under the open sky.
The exact program for 2026 will be published by the organizer in spring/summer. The structure follows the proven cornerstones of previous years:
