61 years of tradition – a four-day Mosel wine festival on the Hatzenport Mosel promenade
Hatzenport is a small Moselle village in the Untermosel collective municipality in the Mayen-Koblenz district, nestled in one of the most spectacular Moselle loops. With just under 700 inhabitants, a historic St. Rochus parish church, and a location directly on the right bank of the Moselle, the village has a particularly intimate charm. Above the village, St. Johannes Church presides on a rock – a landmark that embodies Moselle romance.
In 2026, the Wine and Heritage Festival celebrates its 61st edition – a testament to how deeply the festival tradition is rooted in the village community. The festival runs from July 24th to 27th, 2026, spanning four days from Friday to Monday. The opening hours are generous and sometimes extend late into the night: Friday 6 PM–1 AM, Saturday 6 PM–2 AM, Sunday 9 AM–5 PM (family program during the day), Monday 6 PM–12 AM.
The festival grounds are the Mosel promenade – the stretch of riverbank ideal for such events. With views of the flowing water, the vineyards on the opposite bank, and the typical Moselle scenery, the atmosphere created is hard to surpass.
The focus is on Mosel wines from Hatzenport vintners and the Upper Moselle region as a whole. Riesling, Müller-Thurgau, Elbling, and Spätburgunder dominate the selection. The steep slate slopes of the Upper Moselle are a natural phenomenon: gradients of up to 60 degrees, laborious manual work by vintners on the steep terrain, resulting in mineral-rich, fruit-forward wines of high repute.
The festival is accompanied by live music in the festival tent and on the promenade. The Sunday program during the day (9 AM–5 PM) is family-oriented, with a morning pint, lunch, coffee and cake, and a more relaxed festival pace. The evening programs (Friday, Saturday, Monday), on the other hand, are party-oriented and attract young adults and festival-goers from all over the region.
The 61st edition continues a tradition that has been maintained without interruption since the 1960s. The local municipality of Hatzenport organizes the festival together with local clubs. Program details will be communicated on hatzenport.de/termin/weinfest/.
