Community Advent market on the town hall forecourt on the 1st Advent with mulled wine, arts and crafts, and musical entertainment.
Vechelde, located between Braunschweig and Peine, is a growing municipality with twelve districts. The central town hall forecourt provides the perfect setting for the annual Christmas market: here, residents from all districts and guests from the region come together on the first Advent weekend to jointly usher in the Advent season.
The market is manageable – and that's precisely what makes it special. The Vechelde associations, schools, church communities, and initiatives shape the offerings. Visitors can typically expect:
Many stalls support their association's work or local social projects with their proceeds.
The market is regularly accompanied musically by the church community's brass choir, the local choir, or the music corps. Children can look forward to a possible visit from St. Nicholas, a small craft activity, or a fairy tale corner in the warm town hall foyer. The decorated fir trees, shining stars, and fairy lights give the square its characteristic, inviting atmosphere.
The town hall forecourt is centrally located in the main town of Vechelde, within walking distance of bus stops and nearby parking. A combination with other markets in the Peine district – for example, in Hohenhameln, Wendeburg, or Ilsede-Gadenstedt – is ideal for pre-Christmas tours.
The exact program for 2026 will be published by the municipality of Vechelde in the autumn. Stalls from local associations, craftspeople, and initiatives are expected, as well as musical entertainment from choirs, a brass choir, and possibly performances by the primary schools.
The exact 2026 program will be published by the organizer in the autumn. The structure follows the proven cornerstones of previous years:
