Volunteers Celebrate Themselves

The Hepstedt Volunteer Fire Brigade is a central pillar of village life. Around the clock, the volunteer comrades are ready to extinguish fires, provide technical assistance, and intervene in emergencies. Once a year, the brigade celebrates itself with the Fire Brigade Festival, which is also open to the village population.

Tunnel Festival and Show Exercises

The Hepstedt Fire Brigade Festival is organized as a tunnel festival: fire brigade technical competitions between teams from the Samtgemeinde and friendly brigades form the sporting core. Pumping competitions, obstacle courses in full protective gear, hose relays, and other disciplines are held. Show exercises with original vehicles demonstrate the work of the fire brigade to the public – from firefighting attacks to technical rescue.

Meeting Point for the Samtgemeinde

Brigades from Hepstedt, Tarmstedt, Wilstedt, Breddorf, Kirchtimke, and other places come together. The Fire Brigade Festival is a competition venue, a convivial meeting point, and an image event all at once. Contacts are maintained, new comradeships are formed, and the public experiences firsthand what the voluntary fire brigade entails.

Snacks and Dance Evening

Snack stands run by the brigade provide visitors with sausages, fries, drinks, and sweets. In the evening, a dance evening with live music or a DJ offers an opportunity to round off the festival in a convivial atmosphere. Families, club members, and guests mingle at the festival grounds.

A Contribution to Recruitment

The Fire Brigade Festival is also an important contribution to recruitment. Children and young people experience fire brigade technology up close, can try out a water jet themselves, or climb into the cockpit of a fire engine. This sparks interest in joining the youth fire brigade.
