Weihnachtsmarkt Lübbecke — Advent magic in the Mühlenkreis

When the lights turn on in December, Lange Straße sparkles, and the scent of mulled wine and roasted almonds fills the city centre, the district town of Lübbecke transforms into a small pre-Christmas cosmos. From December 3rd to 7th, 2026, the Lübbecke Christmas Market will take place right in the heart of the Wittekindstadt.

Lange Straße, Burgmannshof — the heart of the city centre

The market stalls are grouped along the Lange Straße (Lübbecke's main shopping street) and in the historic Burgmannshof — a medieval courtyard with a half-timbered backdrop that receives the most beautiful light effects every year. The surrounding shops decorate their windows festively, and the entire city centre transforms into a cohesive Christmas backdrop.

St. Nicholas Celebration on Sunday, December 6th, 2026

The highlight of the market is the big St. Nicholas Celebration on Sunday, December 6th, 2026, at 5:00 PM in the Burgmannshof. St. Nicholas arrives at the courtyard, there's a gift event for children, stick bread, music, and a festive atmosphere. For many Lübbecke families, the St. Nicholas Celebration is a firm Advent tradition.

Lübbecke — District town on the Wiehengebirge

The town of Lübbecke is the main town of the former Lübbecke district (now part of the Minden-Lübbecke district) and lies on the northern slope of the Wiehengebirge in East Westphalia. Known as the "Wittekindstadt," Lübbecke was already a hub in the Middle Ages — the historic streets of the city centre are still reminiscent of this. In Advent, this compact old town becomes the ideal Christmas market backdrop: short distances, lots of lights, dense atmosphere.

Accompanying stage programme

School choirs, brass choirs, gospel groups, and local bands perform daily in the city centre. The programme will be published on luebbecke-erleben.de in mid-November.
