Löninger Weihnachtsmarkt on the Gelbrink

The Löninger Weihnachtsmarkt takes place every year on the 2nd Advent weekend on the Gelbrink — Löningen's historic market square. The event is organized by the town of Löningen in cooperation with the business association, local clubs, and the St. Vitus parish. With its 1000-year history and the St. Vitus Church, Löningen is one of the oldest settlements in the southern Cloppenburg district, and the Christmas market fits harmoniously into the historic townscape.

Two Market Days and St. Nicholas Procession

On Saturday, the market begins at 2 p.m. with an arts and crafts market in the primary school. On Sunday, the actual market opens on the Gelbrink from 1 p.m. The highlight is the St. Nicholas procession around 5 p.m.: accompanied by the Löninger Bürgerkapelle and the fire brigade, St. Nicholas parades through the town center to the St. Vitus Church, where he receives the children and distributes gifts.

Family-Friendly Offerings

The town of Löningen ensures a family-friendly program: free tickets for the carousel are distributed, and a children's program rounds off the market. The market stalls offer classic Christmas market assortments: mulled wine, bratwurst, potato pancakes, candied almonds, gingerbread, as well as arts and crafts and Advent wreaths.
