Approximately 30 stalls offered gifts from the living rooms and workshops of the neighborhood — carved nativity figures, knitted hats, pottery bowls, homemade jam, honey from the local beekeeper, and cookies.

The social dimension has characterized the market for almost 40 years: exhibitors donate a portion of their income to the Christmas campaign of the Bürgerverein Mannheim-Gartenstadt, which has been helping needy families in the district during Advent for decades.
