Overview

In 2025, the Christmas Market at Drostenhaus once again attracted families from across the Märkischer Kreis to Balve. On the second Advent weekend, the approximately 40 association stalls, the living nativity scene with Wieland and Kasimir, and the town's brass ensemble once again characterized the weekend. The Balver Werbegemeinschaft (BalVer) drew a positive conclusion again: the market remains one of the most traditional Advent weekends in the Hönnetal valley.

The 2025 edition followed the proven concept of the Balver Werbegemeinschaft as usual. The Drostenplatz setting with the illuminated half-timbered Drostenhaus once again provided the backdrop for association stalls, handicrafts, and the living nativity scene.

Families benefited from the visit of St. Nicholas on Saturday, while Sauerland specialties such as potato pancakes with apple sauce, lard cakes, and kale with smoked sausage were served from the counters of local rifle brotherhoods and sports clubs. On Sunday, performances by choirs and the brass choir rounded off the Advent weekend.
