Atmospheric at the Ostbahnhof

For years, the Weihnachtsmarkt Dannenberg has been one of the most atmospheric Christmas markets in the Wendland region. The venue is the unique setting of the Ostbahnhof Dannenberg — a historic train station building that has long become a cultural meeting point — as well as the square in front of the St. Johannis Church. From Friday, November 27, to Sunday, November 29, 2026, this town center transforms into an Advent market.

Crafts, Bratwurst, Glühwein

The offerings are concentrated and of high quality: artisans from the Wendland and surrounding areas present their work — ceramics, textiles, wood, jewelry. In addition, the classic treats are captivating: Bratwurst in many variations, fresh Glühwein, regional specialties, and sweet pastries.

Living Advent Calendar

A special tradition accompanies the Advent season in Dannenberg: the Living Advent Calendar. From December 1 to 24, a different location in the town opens its doors or courtyard daily — private homes, shops, clubs, institutions. Behind each door, visitors can expect a small program: songs, stories, Glühwein, encounters. A heartwarming way of celebrating Advent that fills the entire town with lights and stories.

The exact program for 2026 will be published by the organizer in the fall. The structure follows the proven key points of previous years:

• Friday 27.11.: Opening in the afternoon, market activities in the evening
• Saturday 28.11.: Full market day with stage program and musical accompaniment
• Sunday 29.11.: Market, family program, winding down in the evening
• Accompanying: Opening of the Living Advent Calendar from 1.12.
