Cloppenburg Advent Tradition

Like many medium-sized towns in Westphalia, Cloppenburg also has its own Christmas Market (Weihnachtsmarkt) in the pedestrian zone. It is a firm part of Advent culture for the citizens of the town and the residents of the surrounding Cloppenburg district. With its early opening on the Thursday before the 1st Advent (2026 = November 26) and a long run until December 30, the market covers the entire Advent season and the days between the years.

Five Weeks of Mulled Wine Scent in the City Center

The Cloppenburg pedestrian zone provides the perfect setting: shops on either side, decorative lighting overhead, the scent of fir trees and mulled wine in the air. For over five weeks, stallholders gather with:

• Bratwurst, potato pancakes, crêpes, Schmalzkuchen (traditional fried pastry)

The Cloppenburg Christmas Market is designed to be family-friendly: carousels, activities with St. Nicholas, childcare on weekends, hands-on stations.
