Weihnachtsmarkt Baumholder

Baumholder is a small town where the Advent market fulfills an important social function: it is a meeting point for residents, US soldiers and their families, returnees from surrounding villages, and visitors from the entire Birkenfeld district. The town uses Kennedyallee for the market, a wide street in the town center that offers a small square in front of the pharmacy. Wooden stalls are set up in this square, creating the typical Advent atmosphere with fir branches, fairy lights, and stars.

The stalls offer a family-friendly mix of handicrafts and culinary treats. The handicraft side includes waxed fir branches, Advent arrangements, wreaths, gingerbread, honey, jams, and small gifts such as felt items, knitwear, and handmade jewelry. The culinary offerings are classic: mulled wine in several varieties, punch for all ages, the somewhat unusual apple wine from a regional producer for Baumholder, along with bratwurst, lard pastries, waffles, and roasted almonds. Several local clubs cater to guests at their own stands, fostering a connection to the town community.

A children's carousel is centrally located among the stalls and is a favorite among the youngest visitors. Local choirs and brass bands provide musical accents, performing at various times. The exact date for 2026 will be confirmed by the town of Baumholder in the fall; traditionally, the market takes place on the Friday and Saturday before the second Advent – for 2026, this would mean December 11th and 12th.
