Waxweiler Rosenmontag Parade

The Waxweiler Rosenmontag Parade is the central carnival event of the Eifel community Waxweiler in the Eifelkreis Bitburg-Prüm district. It is organized by KG Waxweiler 1961 e.V., the carnival society that has shaped the festive activities in the community since 1961.

KG Waxweiler was founded in 1961, making it one of the classic Eifel carnival societies of the post-war generation. For over six decades, it has shaped carnival life in Waxweiler, preserving traditions with galas, parades, and lively celebrations. Generations of carnival enthusiasts have carried the festive spirit of the Eifel within its ranks.

Season Schedule 2025/2026

The 2025/2026 season follows a classic structure with several events leading up to the Rosenmontag Parade as the highlight:

• Tuesday, January 27, 2026, 7:11 PM: Kappensitzung – the classic carnival gala with satirical speeches (Büttenreden), dance troupes, and musical performances. Here, the festive program of the season is presented in its full scope.
• Tuesday, February 10, 2026, 2:11 PM: Senior Carnival – especially for the older generation, with a program, coffee, and cake.
• Monday, February 16, 2026, 2:11 PM: Grand Rosenmontag Parade through the town streets.

Rosenmontag Parade

The parade on Rosenmontag is the highlight of the season. With assembly in the late morning and departure at 2:11 PM, carnival societies from Waxweiler and the Eifel region, floats, walking groups, and music bands parade through the town. The route will be communicated by the organizer before the date. Sweets (Kamellen), carnival atmosphere, and encounters characterize the afternoon.

Eifel Carnival Culture

The Waxweiler Rosenmontag Parade is part of the distinct carnival culture of the Eifel region, which is also alive in Prüm, Bitburg, and many smaller Eifel communities with their own carnival clubs and parades. The connection to the Rhenish Fastnacht (carnival) is close, yet the Eifel has its own accents and traditions.
