Overview

The Wattenscheid Summer Festival 2025 took place in June in the usual three-day format on the Alter Markt. Stage program with Schlager, Italo, and cover concepts, Family Day on Sunday with children's program and health fair, Sunday shopping in the Wattenscheid city center. The Werbegemeinschaft Wattenscheid e.V., with sponsorship from Sparkasse Bochum and municipal services, attracted thousands of district residents and visitors from Bochum-Mitte, Essen-Ost, and Gelsenkirchen-Süd.

Summer Festival 2025 — Preserving Tradition, Shaping the Future

With the motto 'Preserve tradition, shape the future, strengthen Wattenscheid,' the 2025 edition served as the central district festival for Bochum's western flank. The Werbegemeinschaft Wattenscheid e.V. coordinated the program; Sparkasse Bochum and municipal services sponsored the event. Acoustic, Italian, and Schlager cover bands characterized Saturday evening; the family program and health fair marked Sunday.

The positive reception in 2025 confirmed the Werbegemeinschaft in its concept and led to a direct commitment for 2026 — three festival days, the same venue, similar programmatic focuses. The Summer Festival thus remains Wattenscheid's most important district event and the multi-generational anchor in the summer event calendar.
