Young Rock Festival on the Lower Rhine
Wassenrock is one of North Rhine-Westphalia's youngest rock open-airs — and is becoming more established with each edition. The Vol. III edition in 2026 will take place on Friday, September 4th, and Saturday, September 5th, 2026, at the festival grounds on Rurstraße in Wassenberg. The festival clearly positions itself in the rock and metal segment, with a "top-class lineup" of established and up-and-coming international and national bands.
2026 Program — Bands
Confirmed for Vol. III:
- Emil Bulls — well-known German alternative metal band, active since the 90s, several Top 10 albums
- Blitz Union — Hard Rock / Industrial Metal from Poland, intense live show
- Motorjesus — German rock band, lots of energy and stage presence
- Further acts will be announced in the spring/summer of 2026

Festival Grounds and Atmosphere
The festival takes place at the Rurstraße festival grounds in Wassenberg, in close proximity to the historic castle complex. The backdrop of the castle and nature shapes the atmosphere — unusually picturesque for a rock festival. On-site:

Wassenberg in Selfkant
Wassenberg, with around 18,000 inhabitants, is a town in the Heinsberg district, in western North Rhine-Westphalia, directly on the Dutch border (Selfkant region). Characterized by the medieval Wassenberg Castle and the nearby Rur Valley nature area. With Wassenrock, the town positions itself as a regional hub for rock and metal fans from the Lower Rhine, the Eifel, and the Dutch border regions.
