Eighth Hiking Marathon

The 2026 Hiking Marathon is the eighth edition of the event. In just a few years, the format has established itself as a permanent fixture in the South Lower Saxony hiking calendar, attracting hikers from the entire region and beyond. The event is organized by the local community of Bollensen — a testament to the village's committed club life.

Routes for Every Level

Hiking marathons differ from running marathons in that the distance is covered by walking, not running. The routes are typically between 20 and 42 kilometers long and are completed over several hours, depending on fitness. The Wandermarathon Bollensen usually offers several route lengths, so both ambitious hikers and leisurely walkers can find a suitable path.

Refreshment Stops and Atmosphere

Volunteers set up refreshment stops along the route — with water, tea, regional snacks, fruit, and hearty refreshments. These stops are not just for breaks but also meeting points where hikers can have short conversations, exchange experiences, and make new acquaintances.
