Tasting of approx. 100 sparkling wines from the Palatinate, Germany, and Europe in the Spiegelpalast
The Sparkling Wine Day is one of the most sophisticated events of the German Wine Festival 2026 and the highlight of the parallel w.i.n.e.FESTival (October 2–11, 2026). On Saturday, October 3, 2026, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., the Spiegelpalast "Bon Vivant" on Hetzelplatz in Neustadt transforms into a sparkling wine tasting oasis.
The focus is on around 100 sparkling wines: Palatinate Winzersekt (estate-produced Sekt), German Sekt from the 13 wine-growing regions, European sparkling wines, Rosé Sekt, and Crémants. This range is exceptional — it is rare to be able to taste so many different sparkling wine styles in one place on one day and compare them directly.
The Spiegelpalast "Bon Vivant" is an elegant venue on Hetzelplatz, specially erected for the German Wine Festival. With its mirror-clad interior, it evokes the belle époque of European wine culture and provides an extraordinary setting for the tasting. The atmosphere is both festive and focused on enjoyment.
A special enrichment is the accompanying Old Town tour with wine tasting, offered in the morning from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Participants will get to know the most important sights of Neustadt's Old Town — the market square, the collegiate church, and the town hall — and taste selected Palatinate wines in between.
Anyone who loves sparkling wine should mark October 3 on their calendar: the diversity of sparkling wines, the stylish atmosphere in the Spiegelpalast, and the opportunity for direct interaction with the producers make the Sparkling Wine Day a Palatinate culinary highlight of the year.
The 2026 edition of the Sparkling Wine Day follows the established concept: seven hours of concentrated sparkling wine tasting with producer encounters in the Spiegelpalast. The exact program for 2026 will be published by the organizer in the summer. The structure follows the proven key points of previous years:
The event is part of the rich Palatinate festival culture, which attracts thousands of visitors to the Neustadt an der Weinstraße region every year. The combination of wine culture, Palatinate hospitality, and established festival traditions forms the unmistakable identity of this Palatinate festival institution.
