Lower Bavarian traditional folk festival around August 15th
The Volksfest Aidenbach is one of the most traditional folk festivals in the Passau district, in the state of Bavaria. First held in 1905, it will enter its 121st edition in 2026. The market town of Aidenbach, together with local clubs, is the organizer. The venue is the festival grounds on Haidenburger Straße on the edge of the historic market community, where construction begins as early as July.
Classically, the folk festival begins on Thursday at 5:30 PM at the market fountain: the festively dressed club members gather, the Aidenbach youth band gives a standing concert in front of the town hall, and at 6:00 PM, the Grand Festival Parade sets off towards the festival tent. There, the mayor taps the first barrel of festival beer from the nearby Aldersbach brewery, officially opening the festival.
The large festival tent is managed by Almrausch Festzelte GmbH and offers traditional brass music, festival evenings, and family entertainment. Right next to it, the Almparty tent of TSV Aidenbach caters to the younger festival crowd with party music until late at night. In between, there are amusement rides, shooting galleries, and food stalls.
Sunday is dedicated to lovers of historic vehicles. The vintage tractor parts market starts at 10:00 AM, and at 2:00 PM, the traditional vintage tractor parade moves through the town. Hundreds of historic tractors, agricultural machines, and crawlers can be admired – a magnet far beyond the region.
Friday is dedicated to the Seniors' Afternoon, complemented by helicopter rides from the festival grounds. On Saturday afternoon, a children's and family program with a magic clown and Punch and Judy show attracts visitors. Monday concludes as Family Day with reduced ride prices.
Aidenbach celebrates the 121st edition of its traditional Volksfest in 2026. For five days, the market town of Aidenbach, together with the clubs, invites visitors to the festival grounds on Haidenburger Straße. The beer traditionally comes from the Aldersbach brewery.
