Overview

In 2025, cattle also returned from the Alps to the valley during the traditional Viehscheid in Schöllang. Around 600 animals paraded to the Viehscheidplatz, accompanied by a lively festival with traditional Bavarian music.

The 2025 edition of the Viehscheid Schöllang continued the traditional Allgäu custom. The herdsmen drove the herds from the surrounding Alps – Entschenalpe, Seealpe, Gutenalpe, and Käseralpe – to the Viehscheidplatz, where the animals were allocated to their owners.

As every year, the Musikkapelle Schöllang and the Rubihorn Musikanten accompanied the festival operations in the tent. If the summer grazing season was accident-free, the animals returned festively adorned – an impressive experience for locals and guests from the entire region.
