The 2025 UNESCO World Heritage Day at Zollverein attracted thousands of visitors to the World Heritage site — free guided tours, family programs, and industrial culture activities provided deep insights into the history and architecture of the former coal mine. The Zollverein Foundation once again reported positive results and will continue the format in 2026.

The nationwide World Heritage Day is a central platform for UNESCO to make World Heritage sites accessible to the general public free of charge. Zollverein uses the day annually for an outreach initiative — reaching people who might not otherwise visit a museum.
