Overview
The Umweltfestival 2025 marked the event's 30th anniversary and was one of the largest one-day festivals in Berlin that season. As in previous years, GRÜNE LIGA Berlin e.V. transformed the Straße des 17. Juni between the Brandenburg Gate and the Soviet War Memorial into a festival mile with over 200 exhibitors.
On the four stages, speeches from the Federal Ministry for the Environment and the Berlin Senate alternated with talks on current environmental issues, award ceremonies, and a packed live music program. The area at the Soviet War Memorial ('ECOMICE SPACE') again offered workshops, performances, and small concerts. Admission remained free, as always, with the festival supported by funds from the Federal Ministry for the Environment and numerous partners.
With over 100,000 visitors, its status as 'Europe's largest ecological street festival' was reaffirmed. GRÜNE LIGA Berlin e.V. used the 30th edition to highlight the successes of the environmental movement in recent decades – while also outlining the unresolved challenges surrounding climate and soil protection for the coming years. The 2026 motto 'Soil – You're Standing on It' was announced afterward.
