Overview

The 6th edition of the Ukrainian Film Festival Berlin took place in October 2025. As usual, Plivka distributed the program of feature films, documentaries, and short films by Ukrainian filmmakers across Berlin cinemas in several districts. The main prize of the short film competition went to Anastazja Naumenko's animated documentary "Can You Hear Me?" (Poland); an honorable mention was given to "Critical Condition" by Mila Zhluktenko (Germany).

In 2025, the Ukrainian Film Festival Berlin confirmed its status as the most important German platform for Ukrainian cinema. The 6th edition brought feature films, documentaries, and short films from Ukraine and from exile to Berlin screens, complemented by Q&A sessions with female directors and producers. The main prize winner of the short film competition was Anastazja Naumenko's animated documentary "Can You Hear Me?", which explores intergenerational communication; an honorable mention went to "Critical Condition" by Mila Zhluktenko, which addressed historical echoes and memory work.

The festival was organized by the Berlin-based association Plivka, located at Schönhauser Allee 39A in Prenzlauer Berg. The use of multiple Berlin cinemas and the integration of Silent Green as the festival center once again characterized the decentralized nature — and laid the foundation for the 7th edition from October 14 to 18, 2026.
