Stadtradeln in Uelzen — three weeks of cycling competition

Stadtradeln is a nationwide campaign by Klima-Bündnis (Climate Alliance), in which the Hanseatic city of Uelzen participates from May 3 to May 23, 2026. For three weeks, citizens, clubs, schools, and companies collectively collect cycling kilometers, which are recorded in an app. The goal is to promote cycling, reduce CO2 emissions, and encourage healthy physical activity.

Bicycle Day as the concluding event

The Bicycle Day on June 20 concludes the 2026 Stadtradeln with a public event. Here, the results will be presented, the most diligent participants honored, and the topic of cycling culture celebrated in a broad-based event.

Award ceremony by Mayor Markwardt

Mayor Jürgen Markwardt will personally present the awards to the Stadtradeln winners. The accolades will go to both individuals with particularly high mileage and to teams — schools, clubs, companies — that have collectively cycled the most.

ADFC stand and advice

The ADFC Uelzen will be present with a stand. Here, visitors can get information on cycle paths, tour suggestions, bicycle insurance, traffic safety, and ADFC membership. A free bicycle coding service is often offered — a measure for theft protection.

Bike tours on Bicycle Day

Various bike tours will start from Herzogenplatz, leading participants through the Uelzen region. The Lüneburg Heath, the nearby forests, and the villages of the region offer attractive cycling routes of varying lengths and difficulty levels.

Families and children

A family program with children's activities — traffic education, play parcours, small competitions — makes the day attractive for families as well. Advice on e-bikes, pedelecs, and cargo bikes helps interested individuals get started with new forms of mobility.

Connection between mobility and climate protection

The Bicycle Day is part of the climate protection and mobility efforts of the Hanseatic city of Uelzen. The bicycle, as an emission-free mode of transport that simultaneously promotes health and exercise, is at the center of this policy.
