Overview

The premiere of Treppenhausmusik took place in 2025 in Frankfurt (Oder), bringing live music directly to the residential areas of WOWI and WohnBau. Stairwells, inner courtyards, and balconies became stages — especially for tenants who have difficulty reaching traditional concert halls. The format was so well-received that it will enter its second round in 2026.

The 1st Treppenhausmusik in June 2025 was the pilot project of the Frankfurt (Oder) housing industry and WohnBau Frankfurt (Oder) eG. The goal: to bring culture to the neighborhoods — directly to tenants who, due to age or health, rarely attend concerts.

The premiere mobilized numerous musicians, bands, and choirs who performed in various residential properties of the two organizations. Stairwells with special acoustics, sunny inner courtyards, and summer balcony concerts created a unique sound experience and a strong sense of community. The positive feedback from the first edition led to the subsequent planning for 2026.
