Overview

The 2025 season established the Tigg Open Air Feierabendmarkt format as an important summer event in Datteln's city center — several Thursday evenings with food trucks, drinks, and live music. The cooperation between the citizens' association Lebendiger Tigg, the Werbegemeinschaft Datteln, and the City of Datteln proved viable, the format was embraced by Datteln citizens, and positively covered by the local press.

The experiences from previous years and the 2025 season showed that the Feierabendmarkt concept works in Datteln: after work, people meet in their own city center, enjoy street food and live music, and liven up the central Tigg square. This positive experience led to the continuation in 2026 with four more Thursday evenings. The sponsoring coalition of the citizens' association, local economy, and city administration is programmatically important — it makes the market a neighborly format rather than a commercial event.
