Overview

Theater der Welt 2023 took place in Frankfurt am Main and Offenbach, bringing international stage art from around the world to the Rhine-Main metropolitan region. The triennial festival of the German Centre of the ITI featured drama, dance, performance, and music theatre from internationally renowned ensembles.

Frankfurt and Offenbach 2023

The preceding 2023 edition was hosted in Frankfurt am Main and Offenbach, gathering productions from all over the world. The festival presented the entire spectrum of contemporary stage art and highlighted the importance of international theatre exchange.

Transition to Chemnitz

After Frankfurt/Offenbach in 2023, the festival moves to Chemnitz in 2026 – following the European Capital of Culture 2025. The triennial thus remains true to its concept of making a different German city the stage for world-class performing arts every three years.
