Overview

The 2025 Talflimmern Summer Cinema was the most successful season since 2019: around 3,500 visitors (+20% compared to the previous year), with the Argentine-British comedy "My Life as a Penguin" being the most attended film (premiere and additional screening sold out). In November 2025, the Film and Media Foundation NRW honored the commitment with an award of 2,000 euros for modernization before the 2026 season.

The 2025 edition confirmed Talflimmern as the most important open-air cinema venue in the Bergisches Land region — with a curated film selection, a silent film night with live music, and the atmospheric backdrop of the Alte Feuerwache. The NRW award in November 2025 honored the organizers' long-standing commitment and enabled technical modernizations that will be noticeable in the 2026 anniversary season — improved projection, new seating, an improved tarpaulin system for rainy weather. "My Life as a Penguin" as the most attended film of the season showed that the curated indie program finds its audience.
