Ten-day Native American cultural festival in the Western town of Pullman City
In the heart of the Bavarian Forest, in the municipality of Eging am See (Passau district, Lower Bavaria), lies one of Southern Germany's most unusual destinations: Pullman City, a fully accessible Western-themed town with a Saloon, Mandan earth lodge, Karl May stage, and wooden houses from the Wild West. Once a year, between the end of July and the beginning of August, the "Days of the Native Americans" take place in this setting – arguably the most famous Native American festival in the German-speaking world.
What distinguishes the "Days of the Native Americans" from a theme park event: Every year, Pullman City invites real representatives of indigenous nations of North America who live in the town for ten days, presenting their dance forms, their traditional clothing, their stories, and their crafts. The event is designed as a cultural encounter, with workshops, lectures, and joint ceremonies.
The highlight is the festive Pow Wow, which ceremonially opens the Days of the Native Americans. Dancers and singers enter in colorful regalia, the drum circle is opened, and the ceremony follows traditional procedures. The program is complemented by:
Several workshops are offered in the Native American Camp during the Days of the Native Americans – two of the most popular are:
Registration is on-site at the Town Office.
For tourism in the Passau district and the entire Bavarian Forest, the Days of the Native Americans are an important summer event. The festival attracts visitors from all over Germany, Austria, the Czech Republic, and beyond, and is considered the most authentic Native American festival in Europe.
The 2026 edition lasts ten days – from Friday, July 31, to Sunday, August 9. The festival follows the proven structure with an opening Pow Wow, daily recurring show formats, and workshops.
The festive Pow Wow to open the event will take place on Saturday, August 1, 2026, in the Pullman Barn. The drum circle, dance groups in colorful regalia, and the ceremonial encounter with the Native American guests mark the start.
Throughout the ten days, Pullman City's daily show highlights will run – complemented by special programs for the Days of the Native Americans.
