Wittlich for Families

The Tag der Familie is held in Wittlich every year in early summer, traditionally on Whit Sunday or the Sunday around the International Day of the Family (May 15th). Initiated by the City of Wittlich in cooperation with the region's social welfare organisations, it serves as a showcase for what Wittlich has to offer families – from crèches and kindergartens to school and leisure activities and family and parenting advice.

Play, Movement, and Information

The stations are spread across the central squares of the city centre – usually Marktplatz, Synagogenplatz, and Platz an der Lieser. Bouncy castles and movement courses invite children to romp around, while at craft and creative stations, suncatchers, lucky charms, or small items made from natural materials are created. Face painting stations, children's quizzes, and interactive theatre complement the playful offerings. Wittlich's family centres, clubs, sports clubs, music and dance schools, and advisory services present themselves at information stands.

Stage Programme and Gastronomy

Performances alternate on a central stage throughout the day: dance groups from Wittlich schools, children's choirs, small theatre productions, sports demonstrations. Street food, coffee and cake, grilled sausages, and ice cream provide refreshments. Admission is free, and many hands-on activities are free or offered for a small fee.
