Strawberry Festival Freckenfeld

The Erdbeerfest Freckenfeld is one of those typical small summer festivals that are cherished in many South Palatinate villages as important social and meeting dates. The organizer is the Freie Wählergruppe Freckenfeld (FWG), which uses the festival to fill its club coffers while making an important contribution to the social life of the community, which has around 1500 inhabitants.

Concept and Atmosphere

The festival takes place on the grounds of Weingut Disqué — a particularly beautiful setting, as the traditional winery offers a charming courtyard with a view of the vineyards. Long wooden beer benches under the trees, simple table decorations, and typical Palatinate hospitality characterize the atmosphere.

Strawberry Specialties

The focus is on strawberries from regional cultivation, freshly harvested from the strawberry farmers of the Südpfalz: homemade strawberry cakes with shortcrust pastry and plenty of fresh berries, creamy strawberry tarts, strawberry punch (alcoholic and non-alcoholic for the children), homemade strawberry ice cream, strawberry punch with Palatinate Riesling.

Catering and Program

Additionally, hearty snacks are offered: bratwurst, steak, fries, salads, Palatinate snacks (Brotzeit). The program is deliberately kept simple — convivial get-togethers are the priority. For the children, there are small games and occasional strawberry-themed drawing or craft activities.
