Nationwide Climate Campaign in Salzgitter

With STADTRADELN, the Climate Alliance has been combining climate protection, exercise, and political participation nationwide since 2008. The principle is simple: for three weeks, all bicycle kilometers are collected in a municipality. The city with the most kilometers per inhabitant wins federal and state categories, but above all, every municipality gains visible arguments for more cycling infrastructure.

In Salzgitter, the campaign runs from Pentecost Sunday, May 24 to Saturday, June 13, 2026. Three weeks in which all journeys – commuting, shopping, school, leisure – count when cycled. Recorded via the STADTRADELN app or online in your personal profile at stadtradeln.de/salzgitter.

How to Participate

1. Register at stadtradeln.de/salzgitter (free of charge)
2. Join a team (school, club, company, district) or found a new one
3. Between 05/24 and 06/13, enter all bike kilometers in the app or online
4. Optionally participate in guided tours (ADFC, Harzklub, Stadtgeschichts-AG)
5. Evaluation and award ceremony after completion

SCHULRADELN in Parallel

In parallel to the classic campaign, SCHULRADELN runs for all schools in the city of Salzgitter. Students compete in class and school teams, promoting independent cycling to school – a contribution to traffic education and reducing "parent taxis" at the school gate.

Guided Tours

Local clubs offer accompanied bike tours during the three weeks:

• ADFC Salzgitter – Commuting, city, and themed routes
• Harzklub Salzgitter – Tours into the northern foothills of the Harz Mountains
• Stadtgeschichts-AG – Historical bike tours to industrial monuments, moated castles, and Renaissance palaces
