Stadtradeln – The Nationwide Campaign
Stadtradeln is a campaign by Klima-Bündnis, in which thousands of municipalities in Germany and Europe participate annually. The goal is to set a concrete signal for climate protection and sustainable mobility with measurable kilometers cycled. Participants can easily record their kilometers via the Stadtradeln app and website.
21 Days of Action in Osnabrück
In Osnabrück, Stadtradeln takes place from June 1st to 21st, 2026. For 21 days, teams – from schools, clubs, companies, the city administration, families, or private individuals – collect kilometers, which are recorded in a city ranking and a nationwide ranking. The City of Osnabrück coordinates the campaign through its Mobility Office.
Opening Bike Tour Through the Grünen Finger
The official opening event is the kick-off bike tour on Monday, June 1st, at 5:30 PM from the Marktplatz. Over approximately twelve kilometers, it leads through the so-called Grünen Finger – an urban development concept developed in the 1920s consisting of green corridors radiating into the city, which celebrates its 100th anniversary in 2026. The opening bike tour is thus also a small urban history excursion.
Climate Protection with Concrete Goals
The collected kilometers translate into saved CO₂ emissions, which are publicly reported by Stadtradeln each year. The campaign thus provides visible arguments for expanding cycling infrastructure and for a consistent mobility transition in the 'Friedensstadt' (City of Peace).

Over 21 days, the campaign runs as a continuous participatory format: participants record their kilometers continuously in the app, and the city administration evaluates the data in city and nationwide rankings. Accompanying the event, there will be themed bike tours, bicycle checks, and activities at schools.
