The Peine District Cycles for the Climate
From May 8th to 28th, 2026, the Peine district will pedal together for 21 days. The STADTRADELN campaign, launched by the Climate Alliance, pursues a simple, effective approach: those who cycle during the campaign period enter their kilometers into the online platform or the free STADTRADELN app. Individual efforts combine to create a collective result – broken down by teams, schools, clubs, companies, and municipalities.
Seven Municipalities, One Goal
The Peine district comprises seven towns and municipalities: Peine, Edemissen, Hohenhameln, Ilsede, Lengede, Vechelde, and Wendeburg. All are participating in the campaign. Each municipality can organize its own kick-off events, group rides, or thematic tours; overarching tracking is done via the district-wide registration.
2026 Program Framework
- Bicycle Scavenger Hunt from May 14th to 17th, 2026: Families, school classes, and clubs discover the district playfully on predefined routes.
- Guided Bike Tours by ADFC Peine with varying lengths and themes (nature, history, industry).
- Open-Air Church Services in cooperation with local parishes along popular cycling routes.
- Cultural Events in the participating municipalities, from picnic concerts to lectures on the mobility transition.
Why Participate?
STADTRADELN is not intended as a competition for the best athletes, but as a broad participation campaign. Every kilometer counts – whether on the way to school, work, shopping, or on a weekend tour. The collected data helps municipalities identify bottlenecks in the cycling network and plan investments more effectively.

The 2026 edition extends the proven campaign format with additional supporting offers. The central idea remains: cover as many journeys as possible by bike and enter the data into the collective kilometer count. Everyone living, working, studying, or belonging to a club in the Peine district is invited to form a team or join an existing one.

- Friday, May 8th, 2026 – Kick-off of the campaign, opening tours in the seven municipalities
- May 14th–17th, 2026 – Bicycle scavenger hunt through the district (routes for families and school classes)

- May 2026, Sundays – Open-air church services at prominent points along cycling routes
- May 2026, various dates – Cultural events: picnic concerts, readings, lectures on the mobility transition
- Thursday, May 28th, 2026 – End of the campaign, evaluation, and joint closing event
