Love for the City, Love for Music

„Love for the city. Love for music.“ — under this motto, the music association „Lyra“ Ehingen (Donau) e.V. is organizing the Stadtmusikfest in Ehingen's historic old town for the third time in a row. From July 25th to 27th, 2026 (with opening on Friday evening), Bahnhofstraße and its adjacent squares will transform into a continuous festival mile with decorated stalls, a beer tent, a wine lounge, and atmospheric lighting. Over 100 volunteers from „Lyra“ and friendly associations will set up and run the festival for three days.

From Barrel Tapping to Children's Festival

The event kicks off on Friday evening with the traditional barrel tapping by Mayor Alexander Baumann, musically accompanied by the Ehingen City Guard's fife and drum corps, the Ehinger Schalmeien, the Matekapelle, and the Pipe Band Ehingen. Afterwards, the regional cult band Ehgnerländer will take over the festival tent stage late into the night. Saturday is dedicated to brass music with performances by local and regional bands.

Sunday begins at 9:30 AM with the ecumenical tent service, musically accompanied by brass players. This is followed by the Frühschoppen with the Ersingen music association. In the afternoon, Ehingen dance groups will showcase their „Kids Dance“ on the festival tent stage — a treat for younger visitors. In the evening, there's a packed program featuring the Big Band of the Johann-Vanotti-Gymnasium, the Rock Bar Band, and singer Simona. Monday is dedicated to the classic Kinderfest (children's festival): Opening by the mayor at 2 PM, performances by various youth brass orchestras in the afternoon and evening — a festival for all generations in the finest Swabian style.

The „Lyra“ Music Association — Organizer of the Festival

The „Lyra“ Ehingen (Donau) e.V. music association, located at Bahnhofstraße 1, is one of the region's traditional brass music associations. For three years now, the Stadtkapelle Ehingen has been organizing the Stadtmusikfest in its current form through this association. In this short time, the festival has become a firm fixture in the East Swabian festival calendar — filling the gap between Schützenfest, Frühlingsfest, and the later Volksfests in the region.

Ehingen — Large District Town on the Danube

Ehingen (Donau), with around 27,000 inhabitants, is a large district town in the Alb-Donau district of Baden-Württemberg. The city is located between Ulm and the Swabian Jura and is known as a „beer culture city“ — four breweries independently produce beer in a small area, a record for Germany. The Stadtmusikfest benefits from this beer culture as well as from the historic old town, which is exceptionally well-suited for an open-air festival among Southern Germany's medium-sized towns.
