Triple Anniversary: 60 Years of Town Privileges, 77 Years of Ka & Ki, 70 Years of the Association Ring
2026 is a special anniversary year for Weißenthurm. Three round anniversaries coincide: 60 years of town privileges (granted in 1966), 77 years of the Karnevals- und Kirmesgesellschaft (Ka & Ki, founded in 1949), and 70 years of the Vereinsring Weißenthurm (founded in 1956). This constellation has prompted the town to organize a grand Stadtfest (town festival) taking place from September 18th to 20th, 2026, which will hold a special place in Weißenthurm's town history.
The venues are the central Kirchplatz (church square) with the Catholic parish church of St. Georg and the Rhine promenade, featuring its characteristic walkway. Both locations will be integrated into the festival activities and host diverse program points. The event is organized by the town of Weißenthurm together with the Vereinsring Weißenthurm – an umbrella organization that unites the numerous associations of the town.
The program kicks off on Friday, September 18th, from 6 PM with a Silent Party (headphone disco) – a modern, free opening event where three different music channels (e.g., 80s, Charts, Electronic) can be listened to via wireless headphones, bringing together the entire community with diverse musical tastes on one dance floor.
Saturday, September 19th, is the main festival day. The highlight is the grand Vereinszug (association parade), leading the numerous Weißenthurm associations from Kirchplatz through the town center to the Rhine promenade – a colorful procession with music bands, flag bearers, and association delegations. Simultaneously, the Markt der Regionen (Market of the Regions) opens on Kirchplatz, featuring stalls from various partner and neighboring regions. A medieval market scene complements the offerings with historical crafts, camp life, and medieval music.
At the Rhine promenade, the first Weißenthurm Tractor and Implement Meet takes place – a new program line gathering historical agricultural machinery from the region, aimed at enthusiasts, collectors, and families. The direct view of the Rhine provides a special festival backdrop.
Sunday, September 20th, concludes with a Frühschoppen (morning pint), family program, and the traditional festival finale. Overall, it is a festival that celebrates the diversity and the developed association system of Weißenthurm in a special way.
The 2026 edition is a special anniversary festival involving the entire town. The program points were officially presented by the Town of Weißenthurm and Ka & Ki.
