Largest city festival in the Springe region with around 10,000 visitors on the market square
Springe, a town of around 30,000 inhabitants at the northern foot of the Deister, has its city festival on the market square as one of its most important social dates. The W.I.R Springe business association organizes the festival annually on the Pentecost weekend, making the market square the city's communal living room. With around 10,000 visitors, the festival operates at a level that is remarkable for a city of this size.
The W.I.R Springe business association is an alliance of local retailers, restaurateurs, and service providers who actively shape the economic and cultural life of the city center. The city festival is one of their flagship projects: it brings the city center together, showcases local retail, and strengthens citizens' identification with their city. Sponsors, associations, and the city administration jointly support the festival.
A stage is erected on the market square, featuring live bands, cover bands, dance groups, and show acts throughout the day. Market stalls line the adjacent streets β arts and crafts, regional products, clothing, books, and gifts find their buyers here. Culinary offerings range from classic bratwurst and fries to regional specialties and coffee and cake. Rides and hands-on activities provide a Volksfest (popular festival) atmosphere, especially for families with children.
The city festival is part of a dense event calendar that shapes the city of Springe and its districts in spring and early summer. The Maibaumfest (Maypole festival) and Honigkuchen-Senf-Fest (Honey Cake Mustard Festival) in Eldagsen, the city festival on the market square, and other association festivals create a program that visibly enlivens the city. Those who visit the city festival experience not just a single event, but a snapshot of the vibrant local festival culture in the Hannover region.
On Pentecost Sunday, May 31, 2026, the W.I.R Springe business association will transform the market square and adjacent streets into a large festival mile. Stage programs, market stalls, culinary offerings, and family activities will be spread throughout the day.
The exact program for 2026 will be published by W.I.R Springe in the spring. The structure follows the proven cornerstones of previous years:
The business association will publish updates on springe-erleben.de.
