Summer Palatinate wine tasting on the wine educational trail south of St. Martin with over 60 wines from 20 grape varieties and regional gastronomy
Sankt Martin is one of the most photographed Palatinate wine villages. The village center with its half-timbered houses, typical Palatinate architecture, and the famous town hall is among the classic motifs of German wine tourism advertising. Its location at the foot of the Pfälzerwald, its proximity to the Hambach Castle landscape, and the spectacular vineyards above the village make Sankt Martin one of the most attractive destinations on the Südliche Weinstraße.
The St. Martiner Weinlehrpfad is a publicly accessible hiking trail through the vineyards south of the village. Over a distance of about 700 meters, it passes several information boards that provide details about grape varieties, viticulture, vineyard sites, and the history of Palatinate winegrowing. This very trail becomes the venue for the WeinWeg — the information boards serve as the thematic basis, and the vintners' stands add the practical tasting experience.
The tasting selection is exceptionally broad. Over 60 wines from around 20 different grape varieties are presented — from the classic Palatinate Riesling to Weißburgunder, Grauburgunder, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Spätburgunder, and Palatinate specialties like Cabernet Cubin or Acolon. Such a variety of types is rarely found, even in the Palatinate — and makes the WeinWeg a special tasting experience.
The stands are open throughout the weekend: Friday evening between 6 PM and 11 PM, and Saturday all day until the evening. Access to the festival grounds is on foot — the wine educational trail is accessible via Edenkobener Straße, with a public parking lot on site. Experienced hikers can also access it via Haardtgasse. Admission to the grounds is free; tasting tokens are purchased for the tasting, which are used for payment at the stands. Important: Only cash is accepted on the grounds. Bottles can be purchased directly from the stands at farm-gate prices.
The 2026 edition continues the proven format: two days of tasting along the wine educational trail. The grounds extend over a distance of about 700 meters. Various restaurateurs and clubs provide catering in parallel.
The Sankt Martin vintners present over 60 wines from around 20 grape varieties — an unusually broad selection that maps the stylistic spectrum of Sankt Martin's wine culture in a single event.
Free admission to the grounds. Tasting tokens purchased at the ticket booths. Cash only on the grounds. Bottles can be purchased at farm-gate prices directly at the stands.
