50th edition of the St. Albansfest in Bodenheim — "Rheinhessen AUSGEZEICHNETES Weinfest" (Rheinhessen EXCELLENT Wine Festival) with Bodenheim vintners and clubs
Bodenheim, one of Rheinhessen's oldest and largest wine-growing communities on the left bank of the Rhine south of Mainz, is celebrating a special anniversary in 2026: the 50th edition of the St. Albansfest. Half a century of wine festival in this particular form is a remarkable milestone in Rheinhessen and an occasion for an exceptionally designed festival weekend.
The St. Albansfest is named after Saint Alban, the patron saint of Bodenheim's parish church. The festival date in June combines ecclesiastical tradition with Bodenheim's wine culture, thus creating a festival that equally unites religious reference and folk wine festival.
The opening of the anniversary edition on Friday, June 5th, 2026, will be particularly splendid: the Rheinhessen Wine Queen Levin McKenzie will be welcomed in Bodenheim, the Bodenheimer Blasorchester (Bodenheim Brass Band) and the Gesangverein Harmonie (Harmonie Singing Club) will provide musical accompaniment for the kickoff. The Bodenheim vintners will be serving their award-winning wines and sparkling wines – Pinot Noir, Riesling, Silvaner, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris, Müller-Thurgau, and sparkling wines from Rheinhessen grapes.
The "Rheinhessen AUSGEZEICHNETES Weinfest" award is given by the regional tourism and wine association to wine festivals of particularly high quality in terms of wine selection, atmosphere, and service. Bodenheim has held this award for years, thus ranking among the qualitatively outstanding wine festivals in Rheinhessen.
The culinary offerings include Rheinhessen specialties: Spundekäs (cream cheese dip), Handkäs mit Musik (marinated cheese with onions), Bratwurst (sausage), steaks, Flammkuchen (flatbread), homemade salads, cheese platters, and, depending on the day, specialities from the clubs. The stalls are operated by Bodenheim vintners, clubs, and local restaurateurs.
The program over the four festival days includes live music with various bands, performances by the Bodenheimer Blasorchester and the Gesangverein Harmonie, dance bands in the evenings, a family program on Sunday, a morning pint on festival Sunday, and – as a highlight of the 50th edition – special anniversary elements that will be published by the organizer in due course.
The 2026 anniversary edition marks half a century of the St. Albansfest. Four festival days with Bodenheim vintners, clubs, music, and special anniversary elements. The opening on Friday evening brings the Rheinhessen Wine Queen to Bodenheim, accompanied by the Bodenheim Brass Band and the Harmonie Singing Club.
