Overview

First major edition of the SPO leuchtet format, combining the tradition of the North Frisian Biikebrennen with contemporary light art and poetry. Four days of light walks on the Erlebnis-Promenade, torchlight procession, and bonfire as the highlight.

The 2025 edition established the concept of combining the light art festival with the North Frisian Biikebrennen — a blend of contemporary art and ancient folk custom, celebrated in this form for the first time in Sankt Peter-Ording. Visitors strolled daily between 5 PM and 9 PM through the illuminated spa district, with fairy tale texts and poetry accompanying the light displays. On Biike Saturday, the torchlight procession started at Erlebnis-Hus, and the large bonfire was lit at Buhne-Platz. The format was so well-received that it will continue in almost identical structure in 2026.
