Edition 2025 — Soundwatch
The 9th edition of Soundwatch ran from November 12 to 17, 2025, at Lichtblick-Kino on Kastanienallee, with the thematic focus Music as an expression of resistance and freedom. The program included 13 music documentaries, four short films, one audiovisual performance, and two live concerts. Admission was €9 per screening.
In 2025, the 9th Soundwatch presented a particularly dense program on politically engaged music: documentaries about punk pioneers in Iran, post-Soviet rave scenes, South African township music, and anti-fascist bands in Latin America. The Q&A sessions at the tiny 32-seat Lichtblick-Kino were traditionally a key festival experience — filmmakers, protagonists, and audience in close proximity.
