About Nationalpark Summer Festival

The Summer Festival at the Nationalpark-Haus Wangerooge is a traditional celebration for island residents and summer guests, held annually on the last Saturday in July. On Saturday, July 25, 2026, the Nationalpark-Haus Wangerooge invites you to a vibrant day with musical entertainment, culinary highlights, and a diverse program for all ages. The Nationalpark-Haus is the information center for the Lower Saxony Wadden Sea National Park (UNESCO World Natural Heritage) and imparts knowledge about the unique Wadden Sea nature. At the Summer Festival, nature themes blend with festival culture: live music on the lawn in front of the house, regional specialties, and hands-on activities for children focusing on the Wadden Sea's flora and fauna. The Nationalpark-Haus as a Venue

The Nationalpark-Haus Wangerooge is one of several information centers in the Lower Saxony Wadden Sea National Park. Here, visitors are introduced to the world of the Wadden Sea: its unique flora and fauna, ecological interrelationships, and its UNESCO World Heritage status. The Summer Festival is the annual opportunity to present the house and its mission to a broad public.

Musical Entertainment

Throughout the day, local musicians and bands provide musical entertainment. The spectrum ranges from folk and acoustic music to Frisian sounds – fitting the nature-oriented character of the festival.

Culinary Highlights

The catering focuses on regional and sustainable specialties. Fresh fish rolls, Frisian beer, coffee, and cake from the island bakery – everything Wangerooge has to offer in terms of culinary delights is represented.

Program for All Ages

For children, there are hands-on stations focusing on the Wadden Sea's flora and fauna: touching and discovering, explorer workshops, and creative activities. Adults can participate in guided tours and lectures.

Wangerooge in High Summer

At the end of July, it's peak season on Wangerooge. The Summer Festival at the Nationalpark-Haus is a welcome change from a beach holiday and adds an intellectual accent to the island stay.

Nationalpark Summer Festival — edition 2026

On Saturday, July 25, 2026, the annual Summer Festival will take place at the Nationalpark-Haus Wangerooge – a vibrant day with musical entertainment, regional specialties, and a hands-on program for all ages. The Nationalpark-Haus is the information center for the Lower Saxony Wadden Sea National Park (UNESCO World Natural Heritage) and imparts knowledge about the unique Wadden Sea nature. At the Summer Festival, nature themes blend with festival culture: local bands play in front of the house, fish rolls, Frisian beer, coffee, and cake are served at stalls, and for children, there are hands-on stations focusing on the Wadden Sea's flora and fauna. Admission is free. The festival is an important date for both island residents and high-summer guests who want to combine their Wangerooge stay with nature and festival experiences.

The 2026 edition continues the already traditional program structure: morning hands-on program for families, lunch with food and live music, afternoon guided tours and lectures, evening relaxed conclusion.

The Summer Festival adapts to the natural rhythm of the island and integrates the National Park theme into all activities.
