Open Sunday shopping weekend with shuttle between Bad Neuenahr and Ahrweiler
Sommerbunt unites the two districts of Bad Neuenahr and Ahrweiler for a shared festival weekend. While the spa town of Bad Neuenahr shines with its open pedestrian zone and spa park, Ahrweiler scores with its medieval city walls and narrow alleys. During Sommerbunt, both quarters become a shared stage for retailers, restaurateurs, and associations.
So that visitors can experience both city centers without a car and without searching for parking spaces, a free bus shuttle runs between the centers of Bad Neuenahr and Ahrweiler during the festival weekend. Those who start in Bad Neuenahr with a sparkling wine reception in the spa park can stop by in Ahrweiler at lunchtime and return relaxed in the evening.
The highlight is the open Sunday for shopping, when the shops in both city centers are open. Many retailers offer special summer promotions, fashion outlets, action streets, and family deals. The gastronomy also uses the weekend for special menus and summer terraces.
Sommerbunt is one of the initiatives through which the city center is gradually returning to everyday life after the 2021 flood disaster. The name symbolically stands for the diversity of retailers, restaurateurs, and initiatives that support the center. The event is jointly organized by the Wiederbunt association and Ahrtal-Tourismus.
Sommerbunt is designed as a joint initiative of the retailer and gastronomy initiatives of both city centers. The exact schedule of activities and special offers will be communicated in advance through the participants and the organizers' websites.
The complete 2026 program schedule will be published by the organizer in advance. The structure follows the proven key points of previous years.
