53rd Wine and Heritage Festival in Serrig – “At the Gateway to Saar Wine” – from July 24 to 27, 2026
The Serrig Wine and Heritage Festival, with its 53rd edition in 2026 (July 24 to 27), is one of the most traditional Saar wine festivals in the Saarburg-Konz region. Serrig upholds its self-image as the “Gateway to Saar Wine” – a justified claim, as the village is home to some of the most renowned wineries on the Saar: Van Volxem, under Roman Niewodniczanski, has gained international attention in recent decades, and Schloss Saarstein and Würtzberg are among the other well-known estates in the municipality.
The festival follows a classic Saar heritage festival format: four days of festivities on the grounds at the edge of the village, featuring tastings of Serrig and neighboring Saar wines, a wide gastronomic offering with regional specialties, live music – from traditional brass bands and Schlager to contemporary pop and rock acts – and a family program with activities for children. The festival is characterized by an atmosphere where locals and visitors alike feel at home.
The focus is on Saar Riesling: The cool slopes on Devonian slate around Serrig (including Schloss Saarsteiner Lagen, Saarsteinberg) produce wines with pronounced minerality, fine fruit, and high aging potential. All styles are represented – dry, off-dry, and noble sweet; the top Grosses Gewächs and Auslese wines from Serrig are among the highest-rated white wines worldwide.
The location – in the Trier-Saarburg district, on the Saar River between Saarburg and Konz – makes Serrig attractive for day-trippers from Trier, the Saarland, and Luxembourg, as well as for multi-day wine tourists. Admission to the festival grounds is free; the full detailed program will be announced in early summer 2026 on the websites of the local municipality and tourism associations.
The 53rd edition in 2026 continues the proven four-day format.
Those who wish to combine the Wine and Heritage Festival with a wine tasting at one of Serrig's top wineries should arrange appointments directly with the estates in advance.
