Medieval Times by the Lake

The See-Spectaculum Brietlingen brings medieval life to the shores of the picturesque Reihersee every spring. In 2026, the market invites you from Saturday, April 11th, to Sunday, April 12th, to the municipality of Scharnebeck, northeast of Lüneburg.

Program on Both Days

• Saturday 11.4.: 11 AM to 10 PM — full market and show day into the evening, fire show at dusk
• Sunday 12.4.: 11 AM to 7 PM — family market, quieter atmosphere, closing

Medieval Spectacle

Program highlights include:

• Sword fighting demonstrations with historical weapons
• Artisans: blacksmith, bow maker, leatherworker, felter, woodcarver
• Medieval taverns with mead, beer, hearty cuisine
• Music: medieval bands, minstrels
• Juggling, fire shows, acrobatics
• Camp life with tents, campfires, armories

Family-Friendly

The See-Spectaculum is explicitly family-friendly. The admission of €5 is affordable, and children under 120 cm tall are admitted free. The Reihersee itself also offers a pleasant natural environment — a welcome change from the classic medieval market in an urban setting.
