Overview
In 2025, Schwerin again celebrated the Martensmarkt in November with the traditional medieval spectacle. A lantern procession, the ritual dialogue, and a medieval market recalled the centuries-old connection between Schwerin and Lübeck.
The Schweriner Martensmarkt was again an atmospheric start to the pre-Christmas season in 2025. The old town of the state capital of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern transformed into a medieval setting for three days with market activities, street music, and performances.
The highlight, as every year, was the arrival of the Lübeck Martensmann and the humorously staged ritual dialogue with the City President – a living piece of Hanseatic history in the heart of Schwerin.
