Schwarzenbek in the District of Herzogtum Lauenburg
Schwarzenbek is a medium-sized town with around 17,000 inhabitants in the district of Herzogtum Lauenburg in the state of Schleswig-Holstein, east of Hamburg, on the RE line to Lübeck and Rostock. The Schwarzenbek Economic Association (WVS) is the association of local retail and businesses — and has been organizing the wine festival since 1990 as a thank you to the people of Schwarzenbek for their support of local retail.
Over 100 Wines
The wine festival presents over 100 wines, as well as sparkling wines and spirits from German growing regions — with a focus on Rheinhessen, as the regular vintners Rainer Porscha and Wolfgang Rückrich have been coming from there for decades. To expand the offering, there has also been a cheese tasting with a raffle since 2022, led by Petra Schweim.

35 Years of Tradition
2026 will be the 36th edition of the Schwarzenbek Wine Festival. What started as a simple gesture by the retail association has become a three-day town festival, an important date in the Schwarzenbek summer — and one of the few wine festivals in the middle of a North German medium-sized town.
