Overview

The 2025 performance season of "The Protectress of Münnerstadt" took place on three Sundays: August 31, September 7, and September 14, 2025. As every year, the procession of over 200 participants in historical costumes through the old town began at 1:45 PM; the play was performed from 2:30 PM on the Anger meadow in front of the Heimatspielhaus. One of Franconia's most traditional performances — uninterrupted since 1927.

The 2025 season seamlessly continued the tradition of the Münnerstadt community play, unbroken since 1927. On three consecutive Sundays in late August and early September, the citizens of Münnerstadt once again performed the story of the miraculous salvation of their town during the Thirty Years' War — a community theatre without equal in Bavaria.

2025, like every year, was an intensive preparation season with costume and stage rehearsals over several months; around 200 actors of all age groups, from schoolchildren to retirees, brought the performances to life. The recognition as intangible cultural heritage of Bavaria ensures institutional acknowledgement of this volunteer effort beyond local borders.
