Village Marksmen's Festival with a Long Tradition

The Wilstedt marksmen's club is one of the established players in village life in Wilstedt, a community within the municipality of Tarmstedt in the district of Rotenburg (Wümme). The annual marksmen's festival on the Pentecost weekend is the social highlight of the club's year and has shaped the spring in the village for generations. Club members, families, and guests from the municipality gather at the Schützenheim An der Reitbahn to experience three days of tradition and camaraderie.

Schützenheim An der Reitbahn

The Schützenheim An der Reitbahn serves as both the club house and the festival center. The shooting range, club room, catering, and outdoor facilities form the framework for the marksmen's festival. During the three festival days, the grounds are equipped with a marquee, lighting, and food stalls.

Bird Shooting and King Shooting

The sporting core of the festival consists of bird shooting and king shooting. In the bird shooting, the active members compete to shoot down the wooden bird on the pole. Whoever hits the last piece becomes the new king. During the king shooting, the other dignities in the royal court are determined. The shooting competitions are open to the public.

Parade and Church Service

On Pentecost Sunday, the communal aspect takes center stage: a church service with a wreath-laying ceremony at the memorial, a parade through the streets of Wilstedt with a marching band and friendly clubs, a king's dinner, and the festive crowning of the new majesties in the marquee shape the day.

Dance Evening and Folk Festival Character

The dance evening with live music forms the festive highlight of the weekend. Young and old gather in the marquee for a long night of Schlager, pop, and dance music. Food stalls, beer stands, and a cocktail bar complete the folk festival character.
